Data deletion requests

The right request path depends on whether the data belongs to a shopper or to a Shopify merchant account.

For shoppers

Contact the store where you shopped

The Shopify merchant controls order and review information. Send the store your email address and enough detail to identify the review, question, or order. The merchant can then start Shopify’s customer deletion process, which sends ReviewSpring an authenticated redaction request.

For merchants

Uninstall or request account deletion

Uninstall ReviewSpring in Shopify Admin to stop scheduled requests, cancel the active ReviewSpring subscription record, and remove active app sessions. Shopify later sends the required shop-redaction webhook so the remaining shop record and related app data can be erased.

What customer redaction does

ReviewSpring removes customer contact and identifying fields connected to requests, questions, customer records, email logs, coupons, and reviews. The review rating and review text may remain for the merchant, but the reviewer is anonymised so the content is no longer tied to that person.

Need help with a request?

Visit ReviewSpring support. Include the permanent Shopify store domain and say whether you are a merchant or shopper. Do not include passwords, payment details, or unnecessary identity documents.
